What is CROP Walk?

When CROP began in 1947 it was an acronym for the Christian Rural Overseas Program to help midwest farm families share their grain with hungry neighbors in post-World War II Europe.  The first CROP Hunger Walk was held in Bismark, North Dakota in 1969.  Today, CROP Hunger Walks help to support the grassroots, hunger-fighting development efforts of Church World Services (CWS) and it's partner agencies in more than 80 countries.  CROP Hunger walks help provide seeds, tools, wells and water systems, trees and training programs to millions of people.

The 2009 Tri-Cities CROP Walk is on Sunday, October 18th.
Step off is at 2pm at the Batavia United Methodist Church, on Rt. 31 in downtown Batavia.

The members of First Congregational Church of Geneva have been walking in the Tri-Cities CROP walk for many years.  Want to be a part of our Walkers Team?  It's easy to join, whether you can actually walk with us or not.  You can register on-line to join our team and support CWS in this enormous effort.  CROP's on-line site gives you the ability to make donations via credit card, and can e-mail friends and family members about your participation.  Follow the link below and start spreading the word that the fight against hunger is one of your causes.
